Copy of Berquin's Idylles, consisting of two volumes. With engraved plates.Berquin debuted with two collections of poetry, the Idylles and the Romances. He soon thereafter dedicated himself to writing children's literature, and successively published the Ami des enfants (12 volumes, 1782-1783), the Ami de l'adolescence (4 volumes, 1784-1785), the Instruction particulière à la connaissance de la nature (1784), Sandford et Merton (7 volumes, 1786-1787), the Petit Grandisson (2 volumes, 1787), and more. Known especially for his Ami des enfants, his children's books enjoyed great popularity and were frequently reprinted throughout the 19th century.Poetry - French - Idylles - Berquin Half leather binding, 16.5 x 11 cm.
