XII, 345, [3 blank] pp.Rare first edition of a work intended to teach the Western world about the Arab people, complete with a map of the Arabian peninsula and almost 60 photographs of people and towns. Paul W. Harrison (1883-1962) was a medical missionary from Nebraska, who served in Arabia from 1909-1954. The present work is his first book and describes his travels through the region. His descriptions of oasis communities are of particular interest.With two owner's inscriptions on the first flyleaf in the same hand ("Amersfoort 5 dec. 1929" and "A. Groothoff"). The binding shows minor signs of wear, very slightly foxed througout. Otherwise in good condition.l Macro 1134 (erroneously cites a 1923 London ed.).
