The expedition sailed via Cadiz and Java and arrived in Chinese waters in August 1755. The ship stayed at Canton for a few months and Brelin vividly describes the people who lived there. The return journey went via Cape, St. Helena, and Ascension Island. On the Ascension Islands, Brelin went ashore to fish for turtles and was accidentally left behind.
