New York, Grosset & Dunlap, 1933. Hardcover. pp. iv, 218. 8vo. Bound in brown buckram with brown lettering & silhouette design. Top edge of book sprayed blue. Text printed on 'wartime' paper (now age-toned). Front dust jacket flap shows 110-150, and lists 21 titles, ending with 'The Clue of the Broken Blade'. Fourteen 'X-Bar-X' titles on rear panel. Jacket has yellow spine with number '12' at bottom. This format published between 1943 to 1951. See Axe, 'All About Collecting Boys' Series Books', pp. 98. The book is slightly rubbed at the edges. Former owner's name and address label on front free endpaper. Otherwise, the book is clean, tight, and in very good condition. The dust jacket is rubbed at the folds and chipped at the spine ends. Light overall soiling. Still in about good condition and now encased in clear archival-quality protective acetate. Frontispiece by J. Clemens Greeta and printed on coated paper. Orange coloured 'Gretta' endpapers. Ill.: black-&-white frontispiece.
