New York: Harper & Brothers, 1846. Early US edition [Edgar & Vail, p. 23; Gimbel A93; VanderPoel B403(2)]. Printed brown wrappers. Uncut edges. 32 pp (double column) + 16 pp 'Catalogue of Books' at rear, 8vo. An overall Very Good copy with the usual foxing, and some dampstaining signs along the gutter. Often called the 1st US edition, priority cannot be established with absolute certainty, so we hesitate to term it such.. In any event, undoubtedly an uncommon item; a search of the auction records for the last 25 years shows only two having been offered.
