Dickens created some of literature's best-known fictional characters, and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era.Uniformly bound in half morocco, with cloth boards and marbled endpapers. Each title is illustrated with eight plates of illustrations, with the exception of 'The Uncommercial Traveller' which is illustrated with four. Collated, complete. Comprising the following works:'Barnaby Rudge' bound together with 'The Uncommercial Traveller' 'Hard Times' bound together with 'Great Expectations' 'Bleak House' 'Martin Chuzzlewit''Oliver Twist' bound together with 'American Notes''Nicholas Nickleby' 'The Old Curiosity Shop' bound together with 'A Tale of Two Cities''David Copperfield' 'Christmas Books' bound together with 'Sketches by Boz' 'Little Dorrit' Uniformly bound in half morocco, with cloth boards. Externally, with minimal rubbing to the extremities and marks to the boards. Hinges to 'Old Curiosity Shop' and 'Hard Times' have failed, with text block loose. Rear hinge to 'Christmas Books' and front hinges to 'Oliver Twist' and 'Bleak House' have also failed. Internally, generally firmly bound. With four leaves detached but present to 'Hard Times', one plate detached but present to 'Oliver Twist' and and several leaves at risk of detaching throughout the other volumes.
