With sketches exploring the origin and the traditional uses of various instruments including the bagpipe, the organ, bells, the lute, and the harp, amongst others. Written by Sir John Graham Dalyell, a Scottish advocate, antiquary and naturalist. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and board edges with the odd mark to the cloth. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound with pages ix to xii loosening slightly. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and light age toning to the extremities. A contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper dated 1906. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
