The first edition of this work, in the original slip case.Number 258 of 775 numbered and signed copies, signed by O'Neill to the limitation leaf.O'Neill's play required more than a hundred actors making up a masked chorus, resembling both Greek tragedy and the mystery plays of the Middle Ages.O'Neill received the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1936 and was the only author to win the Pulitzer Prize four times. In the publisher's original paper-vellum backed decorative paper covered boards, with paper covered slip case. Back strip lightly age toned, with light shelf wear to back strip tail. Otherwise, externally excellent. Slip case in fair condition, with top panel and back strip tenderly held, and bumping to board perimeters. Internally, firmly bound.
