A very scarce first edition of this novel. In the publisher's original decorative cloth binding. An early novel from Henry Cuyler Bunner, an American poet, journalist and writer best known for his play 'Tower of Babel&apos. This fairly unknown work predates 'The Midge' (1886), which makes up one of Bunner's scarce volume of novels published throughout his writing career. He is instead better known for his poems, short stories and plays. The story centres around a group of American aristocrats, with particular focus on the affairs of one Jack Carnegie, a self-proclaimed cynic of his circumstances.  In the original decorative cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with rubbing to the extremities, most notably to the spine head and tail. With minor darkening to the spine cloth and a couple marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound.
