Complete in two volumes.A collection of large photographs portraying the Conservative and Unionist British statesmen of the Victorian period.Each photograph is paired with a description of the statesman, with information on their backgrounds and political careers. Statesmen featured include, Henry Chaplin, Viscount Cross, Randolph Churchill, the Balfours, and the Duke of Richmond and Gordon. With a frontispiece to each volume, and nineteen photographs mounted on heavy card to volume I, and seventeen to volume II. Collated, complete.First published in six divisions in the 1890s, this set is dated circa 1900. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail and board perimeters, with fraying in these locations. Tide mark to fore edge of rear board of volume I. Back strip age toned. Loss of cloth to volume I back strip head. Marks to front board. Significant marks and small tide marks to front board of volume I. Front joint of volume II starting, with board tender. Head of front joint of volume I starting, with board firmly held. Back strip of volume II tenderly held, and detaching to head. Internally, firmly bound.
