The second edition of this work, published in the same year as the first edition.Inscribed to a bookplate supplied by the publisher to the front pastedown, reading 'To General and Mrs Noswallis [sic] from the author, T. I. Dun, July 1939&apos.This bookplate features hieroglyphs, with text to the front pastedown detailing how they should be read.Major Dun's account of his travels through the Libyan Desert from Cairo to Siwa, in armoured cars, illustrated by many beautiful woodcut and linocut prints.There is also a chapter on the history, customs and superstitions of the Libyan Desert and the people who live there.Illustrated with two tipped in plates, vignette woodcuts surrounding the text throughout, sixteen pages of monochrome photographs, a folding map of the Libyan Desert, a folding photographic plate, and a colour plan of Cairo to the rear.Collated, complete.Among the many artists who have contributed to this work are: N. Strekalowsky, M. Fisher, Bernard Rice, Elsa Masters, P. S. Searight, Selah Chiaty, Rameses Younan, and Namhia Saad. In the publisher's original cloth backed pictorial paper covered boards. Light rubbing to back strip tail, and a touch of rubbing to back strip head and joints. Small area of loss of paper towards head of front board, with further losses of paper to centre of rear board. Hinges a touch strained to tails, but firmly held. Signed to bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good .
