The vanishingly scarce first edition, first impression of this historical work from Greek diplomat, lawyer, genealogist and historian Philip Pandely Argenti, who hailed from a long established noble family from the Greek island of Chios. His family can be traced back to 1511 on the island.In 1962, he donated over 10,000 volumes of rare books and manuscripts, maps, and albums to the Library of Chios.This is the superior quarter paper vellum issue of the work, printed on Millbourne Hand Made paper, with their watermark to each leaf.Illustrated with a frontispiece, double-page map, and one further plate.
