A collection of fifteen poetical letters showing a satirical view of the fashionable live in Bath in the eighteenth century, following the adventures of three naive children of a Northern squire whilst on a visit to the city. First published in 1766, this was Christopher Anstey's most popular work, and he never quite recaptured the success of this work, which was constantly in print during his lifetime.Illustrated, with a frontispiece as called for. ESTC reference no: T89808. Collated, complete. Bound in full calf. Externally, slightly worn, with rubbing to leather. Joints are cracked, with boards tenderly held, particularly the front.
