First edition. In the original quarter cloth, with paper covered boards. Undated, dated from a copy held at the British Library.This book comprises a series of biographical sketches concerning writers that dominated the 1890s, including Arnold Bennett, Richard Harding Davis and Thomas Hardy. The sketches comment on the impressions that were made of these writers on the author, C. Lewis Hind, a British journalist, writer and critic, during their times meeting. Tipped in are two reviews of the work from publication 'The Nation&apos.  In the original quarter cloth binding, with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart, with slight rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Darkening to the spine. Bookplate of one J. Hodges to the front pastedown.
