A bibliographical work by Leonard Clark on the writings of Walter de la Mare, alongside twelve signed letters from Clark. Leonard Clark was an English poet, writer, editor, and educator. His works followed the people and natural surroundings of his hometown, Cinderford.Taken from volume six of the Bibliographical Society of the University of Virginia, present here is Clark's very scarce bibliographical study 'A Handlist of the Writings in Book-Form (1902-1953) of Walter de la Mare&apos.Also present are twelve signed letters from Clark, dated between 1954 and 1968. Seven of these letters are typed, and five are handwritten.These letters are addressed to 'my friend', English lawyer R.N. Green-Armytage, who had a lifelong interest in the arts and literature.The earliest of these letters begins 'I was having tea with our mutual friend, Walter de la Mare, last Sunday', and explains that he has attached this bibliographical work on la Mare.Within these letters, it is clear that the two regularly corresponded on both personal and literary matters, often regarding the works of Walter de la Mare, and the sale and lending of books.The letters frequently discuss Green-Armytage's failing health, and the final letter, dated 1968, is addressed to Green-Armytage's son, and references the passing of his father.
