HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary pebbled half cloth and marbled boards, spine gilt, old shelf label to spine, old military institutional stamps to title-page, upper joint neatly mended, inner hinges very slightly cracked, corner-tips rubbed. In good condition, near fine interior. [AND:] II. Plates: Imperial (Elephant) folio 44.5x30.5 cm. Comprising of 14 double-page lithographic plates with numerous illustrations to each. HARDCOVER, bound in contemporary cloth and marbled boards, printed cover. Bit shabby, inner hinges cracked, few plates with extensive pencil annotations in contemporary hand, sometime accompanied by small marks in coloured crayon. ~ FIRST EDITION. The plate volume is of the second edition (1900). The text volume was bound without any plate. Instead, it was bound with the rare "Nachtrag" which was published in 1893, originally accompanied by eight plates.
