A first edition thus; the tracts present in this volume had been published previously, but are gathered here for the first time by Robert Vansittart.Covering animal husbandry ('The Boke of Husbandry'), surveying ('Surueyenge') and matters of the household (Xenophon's 'Treatise of Householde').Robert Vansittart, who was elected a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1767, undertook antiquarian pursuits in his spare time.In the year of his election he edited this work, which consists of reprints of Gentian Hervet's translation Xenophon's 'Treatise of the Householde' (1534), and Sir Anthony Fitzherbert's 'Boke of Husbandry' (1534) and 'Surveyinge' (1539). ESTC T138847 In a half calf binding, with paper covered boards. Significant rubbing to back strip head and tail and joints, and to board perimeters. Front hinge strained, and a touch tender. Internally, firmly bound.
