A later edition of this work.Bound in the original decorative cloth with gilt detailing. This book contains an array of poems, songs and ballads that reference the legendary heroic outlaw, Robin Hood. Edited by Joseph Ritson, the work includes notes analysing and explaining historical context of some of the writings. Illustrated with charming engravings by Gordon Browne, an English artist and a prolific illustrator of children's books. Includes a colour frontispiece and twelve vignettes. Please let it be noted that the previous owner of this work has included their own speech inscriptions to a majority of the illustrations, which may humour the reader. In the original decorative cloth binding. Externally, very smart. With rubbing and bumping to the extremities, heaviest to the spine. Slight darkening to the spine and a couple marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, with a damp stain affecting the endpapers, and occasional spots. Throughout the work, the previous owner has inscribed comedic speech bubbles to the illustrations. Good . Ill.: Gordon Browne. Good .
