A scarce number of 'Bookano Stories', this being Number 16. Illustrated with a colour frontispiece, five striking colourful pop-ups, and in-text illustrations throughout. Pop-ups are all complete, the second pop-up is repaired and a little worn, the third pop-up is a little defective. Collated, complete.A charming mid-twentieth-century collection of tales for children, including 'Hunt the Thimble', 'The Snowman's Supper', 'The Wizard Who Couldn't Remember', 'Windmills', and more.Edited by S. Louis Giraud. The Bookano Stories began publication towards the end of the 1920s, and were the first 'automatic' books.With the bookplate of Michael and Megan Dawson, a husband and wife who established a successful business dealing in and restoring pop-up books, to the head of the front pastedown. In the original publisher's paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart. Light rubbing, resulting in a small amount of loss of paper to the spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. Only a few light marks to the boards and spine. Vertical crack to the backstrip. Hinges are starting but firm. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Pop-ups are all complete, the second pop-up is repaired and a little worn, the third pop-up is a little defective.  Very Good . Ill.: Not Stated. Very Good .
