The first edition of this selection of poetry. With an illustrated title page by George Cruikshank. In the publisher's original gilt and blind stamped cloth. This uncommon work features a selection of ballads edited by Dr John Doran, an English editor and writer best known for being the editor of 'The Athanaeum&apos. Doran also contributed four of his own works to the volume.  In the publisher's original cloth. Externally generally smart with fading to the spine, bumping and wear to the extremities, marks to the boards and tears to the cloth to the head and tail of the spine. Marks to the endpapers with a binder's label to the rear pastedown. Internally firmly bound with generally bright pages with spotting to the front and rear and the odd spot throughout.
