Volume two. Bound in full cloth. Illustrated with monochrome vignettes, illuminated letters and full page monochrome illustrations. This very scarce magazine for the 'deaf and dumb' was edited by the reverend Samuel Smith, and contains selection of articles on religious news, updates and news from societies for the deaf and learning disabled and biographies on noted people from the deaf community. The work also aims to promote Christianity to its audience, preaching about the miracles of prayer for those with disabilities. Bound in full cloth. Externally generally smart with fading to the spine and extremities, bumping and rubbing to the extremities, marks to the boards and slight loss to the head and tail of the spine, with front joint starting and rear tender with back strip lifting slightly. Hinges starting with an old ink inscription dated 1875 to the front free endpaper, with handling marks and the odd spot to the endpapers. Internally firmly bound with age toned pages with handling marks and the odd spot. Offsetting to the title page and pp. 183. Good . Ill.: None stated. Good .
