The second novel from the author, written just prior to King Solomon's Mines. When a discovery of a box containing a well-preserved Saxon woman's head is made in a cemetery collapsing into the sea, the finders deem her to have been a witch. From this point on, things start to go wrong for those surrounding the discovery. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. Any misprints from previous editions have been corrected for this issue. In the original full red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing tot he extremities. Fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Front hinge just starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Light scattered spotting to the first and last few pages. Good . Ill.: None. Good .
