Written by André Cardinal Destouche, a French composer best known for the opera-ballet Les Elémens. Previously held in the library of the Reverend Francis Hutcheson, an Irish philosopher known as one of the founding fathers of the Scottish Enlightenment. In the original full mottled calf binding. Externally, worn with rubbing and wear to the extremities. Light loss to the head and tail of the spines as well as the board edges. Further loss to the spine of volume five and the front board of volume three and five. Fading to the spine and the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd spot. Contemporary ink inscription to the title page. Previous owner's bookplate to the pastedown of volume three with a crease to the rear endpaper. Good .
