Illustrated with a frontispiece, twenty-eight plates, and many in-text images. Collated complete. Set in the Ptolemaic era of Ancient Egypt, this novel mixes historical action with supernatural events, as Harmachis is charged by the Priesthood to overthrow Cleopatra. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. The title detailed on page 201 reads "Czeopatra" rather than "Cleopatra." Publisher's advertisements to the rear dated January 1889 as per the first state, cited from "A Bibliography of the Works of Sir Henry Rider Haggard 1856-1925" by J. E. Scott. In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, smart with light bumping to the extremities and minor fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound.
