Charles George Harper (1863-1943) wrote and illustrated topographical works, exploring the regions, roads, coastlines, literary connections, and old inns of Britain. This is his work on the Exeter road, the fifth of a series of books Harper wrote in an effort to reveal the story of Britain's old roads. He follows the length of this road from London to Exeter, detailing the history and topography of places along the route. Illustrated throughout by the author and from old prints and pictures. In a half morocco binding. Externally generally smart, though rubbed to the spine, joints and extremities. Internally, firmly bound.
