Written by Belgian author Lieve Joris, known for her non-fiction work on the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Africa and China. Inscribed by Joris to fellow author Stephen Vizinczey. This work explores the history of Zaïre, in the former Belgian Congo, with Joris drawing on her own connection to the area, with an uncle who was a Catholic Missionary there. Joris presents a modern view of the country, from the busy streets of Kinshasa to the remote villages. From the library of Hungarian-Canadian author Stephen Vizinczey, best known for his 'In Praise of Older Women', and 'An Innocent Millionaire&apos. His writing was praised by the likes of Graham Greene and Anthony Burgess, describing his fiction as social epics which breathe hope in a corrupt world.
