Baker amassed a great deal of political, geographical and military information on his journey, much of which is relayed here. Illustrated with a chromolithographic frontispiece, three folding maps, and seven further chromolithographic plates. Collated, complete.Rebound in cloth, with endpapers renewed. With the bookplate of F. Diba to the front pastedown. Diba published a bibliography of Persia in 1981. With a former owner's inscription, dated 1958, to the front free endpaper.Valentine Baker was a British soldier who during his life served the Ottoman Army, and fought in the Mahdist war.
