Comprised of 'Breaking the Record: The Story of Three Arctic Expeditions' (1898) by M. Douglas, and 'The Romance of the South Pole: Antarctic Voyages and Expeditions' (1900) by G. Barnett Smith. These exciting and dangerous adventures are each accompanied by full-page illustrations. With sixteen plates and a frontispiece to 'Breaking the Record' and ten illustrations, an illustrated title page and a frontispiece to 'The Romance of the South Pole&apos. Collated, complete.With an ink inscription dated 1898 to 'Breaking the Record', and another of Francis Breeden dated 1901 to 'The Romance of the South Pole&apos. In the publisher's original pictorial binding. Externally, smart, with slight bumping to the extremities and fading to the spine, with the odd mark. Hinges are slightly strained, moreso to 'The Romance of the South Pole&apos. Light offsetting to endpapers. Internally, 'Breaking the Record' firmly bound, with bright, clean pages and an ink inscription to the half title. 'The Romance of the South Pole' binding is generally firm, with the illustrated title and frontispiece disbound but present. Pages are bright and clean, although light spotting to the fore edge and an ink inscription to the verso of the first blank. Very Good . Ill.: Not Stated. Very Good .
