HARDCOVER, bound in the original publisher's full cloth, cover and spine lettered and decorated in black, all edges red. Nice copy in a very good general condition and with fine interior. ~ FIRST EDITION. Provenance: This copy comes from the library of the German opera singer Walter Schneider (1878-1935). He was a memebr of the Frankfurt Opera for most of his professional career, singing more than 200 roles in over 4000 performances. His repertoire included several major Wagner bass roles (Gurnemanz in Parsifal, King Marke in Tristan und Isolde, Fasolt and Hunding in Der Ring des Nibelungen, a.o.). The book has several references to that effect including two impressive armorial stamps, lovely armorial bookplate, name stamp and several shelf numbers on blank endpaper, and last but not least, his signature, dated 1910.
