A later American edition of this illustrated work in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. George Alfred Henty (1832-1902), was a prolific English novelist and a special correspondent. He is best known for his historical adventure stories that were popular in the late 19th century, such as this one. His works include The Dragon & The Raven (1886), For The Temple (1888), Under Drake's Flag (1883) and In Freedom's Cause (1885). This American edition of this work, published by A. L. Burt, is now scarce. Undated, dated through to advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Fading and shelf wear to the spine.
