Illustrated with frontispiece, thirty-nine plates, and two folding maps. A guide to the city of London, with commentary on subjects connected with general information, business, and amusement, including plans of the city, an index to the squares and streets, activities to fill a week-long stay, tables of fares for coaches, taxis, and boats, and much more. Samuel Leigh was a prominent bookseller in London during the nineteenth century who wrote a number of travel guides under his own name. In the original full black calf. Externally, worn with rubbing and shelf wear resulting in light loss to the extremities. A crack to the front joint, both joints starting but reasonably firm. Marks to the boards. Both hinges starting but reasonably firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with light age toning and the odd spot. Folding panorama of remarkable objects in London (page 358) has a 3" closed tear that has been sympathetically repaired with tape, and a 2" closed tear below this, with chipping to the edges of the map.
