Guy Boothby (1867-1905) was a prolific Australian writer best known for his Dr Nikola series, and Pharos, the Egyptian, a Gothic tale about Egypt and the supernatural. Boothby was a friend of Rudyard Kipling's, and wrote ghost stories, Gothic horror, science fiction and crime fiction, with particular interest placed on his supernatural works. This volume is an adventure novel inspired by the Far East, illustrated by Stanley L. Wood. 16 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with shelf wear to the extremities, joints and head and tail of the spine. Small losses to the colour plate to the front board. Mark to the rear board.
