Carsten Hauch - Samlede Romaner Og Fortaellinger

 1569217630,
KjĂžbenhavn, C. A. Reitzel, 1873-1874. First edition. Leather. A first edition of this scarce set containing the novels and short stories of Danish writer Johannes Carsten Hauch. The Romances and short stories of Danish writer Carsten Hauch are gathered in these seven leather bound volumes with attractive gilt spines. A first edition, published in Danish, with a frontispiece to volume I. After publishing several dramatic poems that attracted little or no attention in the early nineteenth century, Carsten resigned himself to the study of science until he had an accident which led to the amputation of one of his feet. He then returned to literature, and produced five successive romance novels, such as Vilhelm Zabern (William Zaber), En Polk Familie (A Polish Family), as well as all of his short stories. Hauch was also a prolific poet, and his imaginative verse demonstrates his interest in the mystical and supernatural. In a quarter calf binding over black paper boards. Externally, generally smart. A little rubbed to the edges of the boards, with some light rubbing to the rear board of volume I. The paper is lifting a little at the rear joint of volumes II and III. Very lightly rubbed to the spine, a little more so to the head of volume I. Lightly bumped and rubbed to the extremities, more so to volumes IV and VII. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a little age-toned but clean. Very Good . Ill.: Not stated. Very Good .
