A script of BĂ©lisaire, a drama in five acts, written in French by D'Ozicourt. This play was an adaptation of Jean-François Marmontel's novel BĂ©lisaire, first published in 1767, a story of the life of the Byzantine general Belisarius. The book was banned, as it indicated that King Louis XV was ungrateful towards his faithful servants. This novel was rewritten, parodied and adapted on stage by three people: one anonymous, one by Moissy, another one by D'Ozicourt. Disbound but intact. Externally sound, with remnants of the original end papers, and a couple of insect holes throughout the whole textblock, though mostly not affecting the text itself. Internally, firmly bound.
