In the original French.Number 116 of 450 copies printed on Lana, retaining the original slip case, folding portfolio, and glassine.Illustrated with eleven illustrations and one plate, and includes at the end of the book the complete suite of twelve woodcuts printed in grey at the rear, all the work of Louis Bouquet. Collated, lacking three of the woodcuts in grey that appear to the rear. Originally published in 1877, Saint Julien is part of eminent French novelist Flaubert's Three Tales trilogy that also includes Cur Simple and Hrodias. In 1888 Camille Erlanger adapted Saint Julien into a dramatic musical with five acts. In the publisher's original paper wraps, protected by the original glassine, and held in a folding portfolio and paper covered slip case. Externally, fine.
