The first edition of this scarce work in the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding, with gilt decoration to the front board. Ink inscription to the half title page. Illustrated with five hand-coloured plates. Collated, complete. A lovely collection of fairy tales, edited by Victorian poet Henry Cholmondeley Pennell and illustrated by successful illustrator Mary Ellen Edwards. This work contains a number of charming tales, including 'The Legend of the Little Flower' and 'The Blue Fish&apos. This work is very scarce in the first edition.2 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally fairly smart, with light shelf wear to the boards and extremities, and darkening to the spine. Both hinges are strained; rear hinge is still firm, front hinge is being held firmly by cords. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are a little age toned with the odd spot and handling mark throughout.
