Edwy Searles Brooks was a popular crime writer in the early twentieth century, writing under the pen-names Berkeley Gray, Victor Gunn, Rex Madison, and Carlton Ross. Both volumes in this collection feature Inspector Bill Cromwell, and the novels respectively tell of a dramatic man-hunt near Mad Hatter's Rock in Sussex, and a holiday interrupted in Nice Day For a Murder. In the publisher's original blue cloth binding, found in the unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, generally smart. A little bumped and rubbed to the head and tail of the spine, with some very light rubbing to the front joint of Nice Day for a Murder. With some light edge wear to the wrap at the head and tail of the spine of both volumes. Internally, firmly bound.
