Published anonymously, this work was attributed to John Richard Jefferies, nature writer known for his depictions of rural England in both fiction and non-fiction, largely influential to such authors as Henry Williamson. Containing a series of sketches dedicated to rural England, including a biographical sketch of the author. Illustrated in text by Charles Whymper.  In the original publisher's full cloth binding.
