The emphasis here is on transport of goods on sailing ships and steamships. With 10 plates bearing black & white illustrations of various ships, and 18 maps (one is missing), eight of which are in color. --- In brown cloth-covered boards with an image of an ancient ship and titling in brown to cover; gilt-stamped spine titling. This book has no dust jacket. --- A prior owner has pasted his name and school to front free endpaper, and with penciled notes at rear endpaper. Also with dulling to cover titling and illustration, minor discoloration to cloth and with age-toning to textblock edges, else a stable, sturdy copy.; Small Octavo - 7-1/2 to 8 in. tall; ix, 526 pages.
