Large paper, limited to only two hundred copies. This is copy number nine. Illustrated with frontispiece portrait of Jefferies by William Strang, a Scottish painter and printmaker, notable for illustrating the works of Bunyan, Coleridge and Kipling. A collection of essays such as: Hours of Spring, The July Grass, Country Places, April Gossip, and Steam on Country Roads. Written by John Richard Jefferies, an English nature writer, noted for his depiction of English rural life in essays, books of natural history, and novels. In the original half vellum with paper covered boards. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and bumping to the extremities. A few marks to the front board. Vellum slightly discoloured as is usual.
