A comprehensive guide to interior design in England from 1500 to 1900, with reference to continental influences, florescence of design, the age of splendour, and the decay of taste. Written by Ralph Dutton, the 8th and last Baron Sherborne who created the gardens at Hinton Ampner near Alresford in Hampshire, England, and on his death left the house and garden to the National Trust. It is now open to the public. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light bumping to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is smart with chipping to the extremities and the odd small closed tear. Minor loss to the head and tail of the spine. Internally, firmly bound.
