The second edition of this very scarce work. It was first published in 1745 under the title 'Campaigns of King William and Queen Anne', but reissued in this second edition with an altered title.Kane's work discusses the military campaigns of King William III in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries, with a particular focus on the Nine Years' War, and the War of the Spanish Succession.The work contains detailed accounts of some of the major battles and sieges of these wars, and the strategic decisions that shaped them.Collated, illustrated with a folding map, and sixteen further engraved plates. Lacking only the vanishingly scarce folding map frontispiece. ESTC reference number T124053The second edition of this very scarce insight into the military history of the period, from a man who was involved in the events relayed; Kane fought in William III's campaigns in Ireland, and was present at the Battle of the Boyne and Siege of Limerick in 1690. Kane then fought under the Duke of Marlborough after William's death, fighting in many battles of the War of the Spanish Succession. Rebound in full calf, with endpapers renewed. Externally, fine. Internally firmly bound. Pages age toned due to paper type, with spotting throughout. Spotting most prominent to first and last few leaves, and pages surrounding plates. Very Good Indeed .
