 1568776973,
London, Jonathan Cape, 1984. First edition. Cloth. The first edition of this fascinating exploration of Hermann Lea's photographs, which capture the essence of Thomas Hardy's England. The first edition of this work in the publisher's original cloth binding, with the original unclipped dust wrapper. Thomas Hardy was fascinated by the atmospheric photography of Hermann Lea. Together they toured around Hardy's Wessex to capture the spirit of his novels. He collaborated with the historian Jo Draper for this volume, to produce a compelling interpretation of Hardy's England in the Victorian era, alongside reproductions of the photographs. In publisher's original cloth binding, with original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally very smart; cloth is a little bumped to the extremities but is otherwise in excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Dust wrapper is bright and smart. Fine . Ill.: Hermann Lea. Fine/Fine.
