Drayton dedicated this edition to Sir Walter Aston, an English courtier and diplomat, and a patron of Drayton. Drayton was very popular in the Elizabethan era, and published his first book, 'The Harmony of the Church', in 1590. Most of the copies of 'The Harmony of the Church' were seized by the Archbishop of Canterbury in order to destroy. He was the first English-language author to write odes in the style of Horace. Lacking the title page, with the title page for Englands Heroicall Epistles (which should be at page L8) as a replacement. Additionally lacking, 'Idea' pp465-496.
