Undated copy, but probably published 1926, in the publisher's original cloth binding. Ink inscription to front free end paper, dated 1926. 12 colour plates tipped in, including the frontispiece. Collated complete. Robert Browning (1812-1889) was an English poet and playwright whose was noted for his irony, dark humour, social commentary, and challenging vocabulary and syntax. His early long poems Pauline (1833) and Paracelsus (1835) were acclaimed, but it was his book-length epic poem The Ring and the Book (1868–1869) which made him a leading poet. This collection of his poetry includes Men and Women (1855), Dramatis Personae (1864), his lyric poems, romances, tragedies and other plays. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and a small faint stain to the upper extremity of the front board. Spine is somewhat faded. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are clean but a little age toned, and there is some offsetting to the free end papers. Colour plates are in excellent condition. Very Good . Ill.: Not Stated. Very Good .
