A collection of articles, on Wiltshire, farming and the natural world, which first appeared in Fraser's Magazine and Longman's Magazine. They were published posthumously in book form in 1892. Richard Jefferies (1848-1887) was an English nature writer, noted for his depiction of English rural life in essays, books of natural history, and novels. His childhood on a small Wiltshire farm had a great influence on him and provides the background to all his major works of fiction, but his walks near his later home in Surbiton also inspired some of the essays in this book. 24 pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart, with a small loss (not affecting the text) and a few small stains to the title label. A little bumping and one small stain to the rear board. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the odd spot to the first and last couple of pages. Very Good Indeed . Ill.: J. Owen. Very Good Indeed .
