Collated, complete.This impressive laboratory was opened by the Nobel Prize winning father of nuclear physics, Sir Ernest Rutherford, in October of 1927, and was funded by Bristolian businessman and philanthropist Henry Herbert Wills, a member of the Wills tobacco family.Along with his brother Sir George Alfred Wills, he was responsible for the building of the impressive neo-gothic Wills Memorial Building, a landmark building of Bristol University, in memory of his father, opened in 1925.
