Blackmore&apos.Adalgisa Pinot-Leite, affectionately known as 'Dolly', was one of Blackmore's nieces, alongside her sister Eva. After Dolly and Eva moved in with Blackmore after his wife's death in 1888 to look after him,living with him until his death in 1900. The sisters continued to live in the house after Blackmore's death, and are both buried at Teddington. The sixth thousandth, published in the same year as the first edition. The true first was published in three volumes, this being the sixth thousandth of the first thus in one volume.'Perlycross' is a historical novel by R. D. Blackmore, set in eastern Devon in the 1830s. Revolving around a collection of villages, the novel follows the death of a squire and the disappearance of his body from his grave.Blackmore is best remembered today for his novel 'Lorna Doone&apos. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Minor bumping and a little rubbing to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Spine is a lightly faded. Very light rubbing to the joints. A few very light marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with only a couple of spots to the first few pages.
