Dated from Copac, first and only edition of this work, a scarce copy. Containing a selection of speeches by the 1st Earl of Oxford and Asquith, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1908 to 1916. Compiled by Basil Hebert (Private Secretary) under the general supervision of Herbert Henry. Speeches range from 1887 for the coercion in Ireland through to 1926 on the resignation of the leadership of the Liberal Party. Illustrated with a frontispiece in photogravure. In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear, lightly bumped to head and tail of spine. Previous ownership ink inscription to front free endpaper, undated. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to fore edge slightly affecting first few leaves; otherwise pages bright and clean.
