Concerning John Gilpin and his ride on a runaway horse, it was originally published anonymously in 1782 and proved very popular. This edition seen both in blue and green cloth bindings.Awarded from Stepney Grammar School to H. Riches in 1872, with bookplate to front pastedown. In the original publisher's full cloth binding, with gilt to spine and front board. Externally sound with shelf wear, bumped to extremities of spine and boards, general light soiling. Bookplate from Stepney Grammar School to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound.
